Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) & Health Careers
This is a one year, seniors only program designed to prepare students for the New York state Emergency Medical Technician certification while they explore a wide range of careers in the health care field. Students will receive technical as well as hands-on training in emergency medicine. Students will complete internship hours with local rescue squads as well as participate in a variety of rotations in medical careers at Columbia Memorial Hospital. View the program flyer here. Characteristics of a successful student
- Interested in emergency medicine and possible pursuing a career in health care
- Ability to multi-task
- Caring, compassionate and considerate individual
- Excellent attendance is a must in order to obtain the hours needed for program certification
- Parental support of the career and the program
Courses strongly recommended to take prior to enrollment or concurrently at home school district
- Biology/Living Environment
- Regents Algebra
- Chemistry (completed or taken while enrolled)
