DISTANCE LEARNING PARTNERSHIP

Through partnership with NERIC, Questar III school districts are provided the ability to become a part of a regional distance learning community. This community shares programs through distance learning technologies that include a state-of-the-art, high-definition interactive video system. School districts use this system to teach courses simultaneously to students in different school buildings and remote locations. ONLINE LEARNING

Online Learning opportunities provide an option to school districts as they face increased requirements, limited resources, shortage of personnel and scheduling conflicts. Online Learning takes place using the internet and provides personalized and highly flexible access and support. Questar III currently collaborates with various vendors to provide course options to schools for credit accrual and credit recovery.

Virtual Learning Academy

Our Virtual Academy provides credit accrual/first time credit for a number of course offerings which may include English 9-12, Global History & Geography 9 & 10, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, US History and Government, Participation in Government, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish 1 & 2, Financial Literacy, Personal Finance, Personal Communications, Media Literacy, Computer Science, Earth Science, Living Environment, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Health. Remote Credit Recovery/Course Intervention

Our Credit Recovery program provides students the opportunity to receive course credit (not for first time credit). This service offering uses a web-based courseware called Apex Learning. Teachers are employed by Questar III and are NYS certified subject level teachers. Students are typically scheduled in a school computer lab to complete the coursework or students may be assigned a self-paced course to complete the credit. This option may also be considered for struggling students taking a course for first time credit as an intervention/support to help students pass critical high school courses.

          • Personalized learning plans focus students’ effort
          • Supports students’ ability to graduate with their cohort

Individualized, Flexible Remote Learning for Grades 7-12

This service provides an option for school districts to offer students in grades 7-12 access to courses that are required for graduation – electives and core courses. These courses are self-paced, online, and offer first-time credit

Virtual Summer School Grades 9-12

This service provides an option for school districts to offer students in grades 9-12 the opportunity to make up failed or incomplete coursework from the regular school year. The 6-week offering takes place using a web-based courseware called Apex Learning, as well as, scheduled 2-hour video class sessions twice per week with their remote teacher. Teachers are employed by Questar III and are NYS certified subject level teachers. Course offerings may include English 9-12, Global History & Geography 9 & 10, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, US History and Government, Participation in Government, Economics, Spanish 1 & 2, Earth Science, Living Environment, Environmental Science, Chemistry and Health.

          • 6-week offering using APEX prescriptive software
          • Questar III NYS Certified Teachers
          • Two-hour video class sessions twice per week
