John E. Sackett Educational Center

Parents, Family, & Friends:

Sackett Educational Center is home to the the Therapeutic Youth Program (TYP), where we offer numerous therapeutic supports to our students throughout their school day. In the program students work towards their Regents Diplomas and/or Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Credential through a variety of classes and electives. For some students, the program also allows them opportunities to explore work-based learning out in the community or at one of our Career and Technical Educational Centers.

At Sackett, we emphasize the importance of social and emotional health for all our students. We work with our school-based support system including our clinical team to develop coping strategies and techniques for students through therapy as well as our Positive Behavioral Intervention System (PBIS). Within the school day, students are part of a homeroom team that allows the students a place to start and end their day, as well as check-in mid-day. Our teachers strive to develop curriculum and lessons that are technology based and innovative to student learning. The teachers utilize both their backgrounds in core academic areas as well as their knowledge of student needs.

I look forward to working with you and your student encouraging them to learn and grow throughout the school year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or needs you may have.

Sincerely,
Karen Brockley
