Filling the skilled trades shortage.
The Questar III Youth Apprenticeship Program provides an innovative disruption to our region’s skilled trades shortage in various trades.
Making the Grade
The Questar III Youth Apprenticeship Program links students with local, high-wage, high-demand, high-skill careers through Matching Day events, job shadowing, paid internships and college courses. We partner with local employers, providing students the opportunity to complete over 200 hours of on-the-job training in their respective trade. Established in Fall 2020 in partnership with the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) and Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), Youth Apprenticeship Program students complete nine college credits while satisfying New York state high school diploma requirements.
On November 10, Questar III BOCES kicked off the Youth Apprenticeship Program at an event with Assemblymembers Jake Ashby and John T. McDonald III, where Questar III District Superintendent Dr. Gladys I. Cruz received a joint legislative resolution recognizing the program and its benefits for students and businesses.
