In July 2016, Questar III BOCES issued a request for proposal (RFP) for a state-of-the-art education facility housing career and technical education (CTE) and special education programs by September 2018. This new facility would replace the Rensselaer Educational Center (REC) located on Colleen Road in Troy, NY.
The 30-year-old REC building is straining to meet the physical, electrical and technological requirements of a rapidly changing education and business environment. The current economic and regulatory environment makes this an ideal time for Questar III and its districts to collaborate regionally on a cost-effective building modernization effort. This includes state legislation that now allows BOCES to enter into 20-year building leases.
As Questar III moves forward with this process it will engage its education, business and higher education partners in conversations about this exciting initiative. Ultimately, this work is part of Questar III’s continuing efforts to help change lives, realize dreams and do together what can’t be done alone.
