Questar III BOCES Culinary students from Donald R. Kline Technical School and Robert H. Gibson Technical School visited The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park on March 23, 2024, to showcase their skills in the annual ProStart competition. Culinary students competed against other students in the New York/Vermont region in a Culinary Competition, the Gourmet Burger Battle, or the Management Competition.

Congratulations to the three teams from Robert H. Gibson Technical School who placed in the competition:

  • 2nd Place, Management Competition: Kameron Lavelle (Brunswick Central School District), Casey Noxon (Lansingburgh Central School District), Nate Sober (Schodack Central School District), and Kimanie Songul, Jr. (Rensselaer City School District).
  • 3rd Place, Management Competition: Shilo Forster (Brunswick Central School District), Talia Muniz (Lansingburgh Central School District), and Asahdia Thompson (Troy City School District).
  • 3rd Place, Culinary Competition: Richard Gates, Jr. (Berlin Central School District), Kameron Lavelle (Brunswick Central School District), Luka Ruiz (Troy City School District), Jaquan Wright (Lansingburgh Central School District).

As part of the competition, those who placed received scholarships from many of the culinary schools in the northeast to use towards their continued education.
