April 24 – 26, 2024, Questar III BOCES Career and Technical Education students from Donald R. Kline Technical School and Robert H. Gibson Technical School attended the SkillsUSA New York State competition in Syracuse, NY. Combined, the two schools earned ten medals at the competition, with three first-place finishers invited to attend the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, GA this June. Here, students showcase their skills and compete against other students from across the country.

Additionally, the Robert H. Gibson Technical School SkillsUSA chapter was recognized as one of twenty-four schools named Models of Excellence for 2024 for their exceptional integration of Personal, Workplace, and Technical Skills into chapter activities. It is the highest honor bestowed on chapters by SkillsUSA. The chapter will also compete at the National Leadership and Skills Conference.

  • Kayla Senich, East Greenbush Central School District | Prepared Speed, 3rd place

Questar III BOCES technical schools each host a Total Participation Plan SkillsUSA Chapter within their school. This means that all students can be part of SkillsUSA and participate in community service projects, fundraising events, and competitions. SkillsUSA is the number one workforce development organization for students.
