On November 14, Questar III BOCES along with Capital Region BOCES and Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES will host the inaugural STEAMing Towards Success Conference at the Red Lion Hotel in Albany. This day of collaboration, exploration and discovery will bring together educators and business leaders from across the Capital Region to find new ways to introduce students to the wide range of STEAM opportunities available after graduation.

STEAM, or Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics is increasingly becoming more important to student success both in and out of the classroom. Ever-changing demands industry and society depend more and more on the integration of technology, and it is up to educators to ensure students are ready to meet these challenges.

Partnering with business is the best way to ensure this success. When educators continue to collaborate with business professionals, teachers gain firsthand knowledge of what businesses are looking for in employees, how changing technology impacts the way even more traditional jobs are done, and the skills new employees must have to be successful.

STEAMing Towards Success will include a 30 breakout sessions on topics including coding, video game development, sustainability, marketing & graphic design, virtual reality and more, as well as a panel discussion with higher education leaders to discuss college pathways and workforce opportunities in STEAM, and a keynote from Clarkson University President Dr. Anthony Collins.

Registration is required for business partners and educators wishing to attend. EDUCATORS can register through MyLearningPlan, and BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVES can register via this form.

Workshop descriptions are available in the program guide.
