Founder and Executive Director John-Michael Keyes of the I Love U Guys Foundation presents the Standard Reunification Method to Questar III and district staff.

Tuesday morning at the Comfort Inn & Suites East Greenbush, Questar III hosted John-Michael Keyes, founder and Executive Director of the “I Love U Guys” Foundation. Keyes’ daughter Emily was killed in a shooting at Platte Canyon High School in 2006. Mr. Keyes created the foundation after his daughter’s death to bring his expertise to school safety and help create the Standard Reunification Method, used by schools across the country. Participants learned about the history behind and implementation of the plan, then took part in a tabletop exercise.

The training was designed for district staff that have the role and responsibility to assist with district reunification plans and procedures, as well as aligning a standard reunification method across the BOCES region for consistency in working with emergency personnel and the ultimate goal of creating a BOCES-wide regional reunification team that could be deployed for school emergencies within Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene Counties.
