Questar III Reopening Information
On this page, you will find all information related to the reopening of Questar III schools/programs in September.
If you have not received email or phone communication from us regarding reopening:
We submitted our reopening plan to New York State on Friday July 31. View the plan here.
Questar III continues to prepare for the reopening of schools for the fall. In order to create class lists, restructure room use, and distribute resources equitably, Questar III is collecting parents’ formal decisions about the upcoming school year regarding in-person/hybrid instruction, or remote learning. Please complete the survey here
We encourage parents to complete this survey as soon as possible, but no later than August 12th. We understand this is a difficult decision, and having as much information as possible is vital to you making that decision. We ask that if you have multiple children, please complete and submit the form for each child separately. Thank you, we look forward to our continued work together to make this a productive and healthy school year.
Join us for our next parent forum on Wednesday, August 12
Zoom links will be shared as soon as they are available.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will Questar III BOCES reopen school in September?
Our goal is to have all our students return in person in September. Of course, this is dependent on Governor Cuomo’s decision regarding reopening. For information on the protocols we will follow, see our reopening plan here.
Will remote learning be an option?
Remote learning will be an option for students who are medically vulnerable or for students living with someone who is medically vulnerable. Beyond these cases, remote learning will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Will my student be required to wear a mask at school?
Yes, per New York State Department of Health and New York State Education Department guidance, students and staff will be required to wear a mask while on the bus or in the school building. We do plan to include “mask breaks” during the school day in situations where students are spaced apart by physical distancing.
In certain cases, within the classroom, where social/physical distancing can be maintained, students will be permitted to remove their masks for instructional purposes and eating.
We strongly encourage that your child practices wearing a face covering at home before the start of the school year. Please reinforce with your child that the new mask requirement is to ensure the health and safety of all students, staff and their families. Here are some helpful resources:

What if my student cannot wear a mask?
If a student has a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask at school, please contact your principal to discuss. State guidance provides some exemptions. Barrier (sneeze guards) use in certain areas will be permissible on a case-by-case basis.
Will a mask be provided for my child?
Students are expected to have a mask of their own before returning to school. Questar III will also provide each student with one (1) reusable cloth mask that can be laundered (we suggest hand washing with mild detergent and air drying). Disposable masks will be available on an as needed basis.
Will my student still receive transportation to Questar III programs from their home school district?
While we don’t have direct control over transportation, we have been in contact with the transportation departments of our districts and they do still plan to transport students to Questar III programs, regardless of the status of the home school district. For specific questions regarding transportation, please contact your home school district.
Will OT/PT services be available for students who require them?
Yes, OT/PT will still be provided as required by a student’s IEP.
Can my child still attend school If they are awaiting COVID-19 test results?
Anyone who has been tested for COVID-19 and has not yet received results cannot come to school until the results come back and are negative.
What are the procedures should someone at my child’s school test positive for COVID-19?
In the event of a positive COVID-19 test by either faculty/staff or a student, Questar III will cooperate with the local health department to perform contact-tracing effort. The school facility will be cleaned and sanitized and Questar will follow the local health department’s direction for the continuation of operation.
