On Sunday, March 24, 2024, Questar III BOCES hosted the New York State Region 4 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament at Coxsackie-Athens Central School District. Despite weather postponements and delays, 41 teams representing 24 schools from 10 school districts and 1 independent school across Rensselaer, Columbia, and Green Counties registered for the annual tournament, aspiring to advance to the statewide competition in April.

The 2024 problems included:

  • Problem 1: Vehicle, “Drive-In Movie”
  • Problem 2: Technical, “AI Tech-No-Art”
  • Problem 3: Classics, “Classics… Opening Night Antics”
  • Problem 4: Structure, “Deep Space Structure”
  • Problem 5: Performance, “Rocking World Detour”

In total, 25 Region 4 teams advanced to the New York State Tournament, to be held on April 13, 2024 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. A full list of scores can be found here.

A special congratulations to the recipients of an Odyssey of the Mind OMER Award, a special award that recognizes the individuals, coaches, team members, parents, officials, and others who, during a tournament, serve as exemplary examples or role models through their actions or words. This award is also bestowed on team members who exhibit exceptional skill and talents. Recipients must be nominated to receive this award:
