Catskill Academy School Nurse Brittany Collins was named a 2019 “Nurse of the Year” by the Time Union, St. Peter’s Health Partners and Excelsior College in the annual “Salute to Nurse” campaign. This is the second year Collins was recognized for her work, but the first she received the “Nurse of the Year” title. Last year, Collins was named a finalist but was not selected to the final group of honorees. Out of over 600 nominations, only 10 local nurses were named “Nurse of the Year”. Nominations were submitted by nurse’s colleagues, supervisors, patients and their families to recognize excellence in nursing.

“Nurse Brittany is certainly an unsung hero at our school. She provides all students with a blend of medical knowledge and caring that we are lucky to have here at Catskill Academy. Her attention to detail with all things related to student health enables our students and staff to know their wellness is a high priority and we appreciate all that she does throughout the year,” said Catskill Academy Principal Suzanne Paulson.

Collins is also a graduate of Questar III, completing the nursing program at Columbia-Greene Educational Center in Hudson in 2007. She joined the BOCES in 2016.

We spoke with Collins last year about her nomination:
