Questar III students at Goff Middle School celebrate the end of the 2017-2018 school year last June.
At Questar III BOCES, we pride ourselves on preparing students for success in their next step in life, whether that is college, a career, or being a contributing member of the community. Through field trips, work-based learning, and classroom resources just to name a few, we seek to enrich our students’ education with a variety of activities and experiences.
As we look to expand opportunities for our students, there is undoubtedly a cost with offering these new opportunities. To this end, the Questar III Education Foundation Inc. is hosting its first-ever “Learn & Prosper Gala” on March 21.
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, governed by a seven-member board comprised of Questar III board members, officers and staff. It was originally established in 2002 to receive private donations to benefit Questar III students. Today, the Foundation has eight sub-funds, most of which are specifically designated by donors to support student scholarships or activities (such as the Tech Valley Region Science Camp, PRHYLI annual scholarship and STEM Research Institute for teachers).
Until now, the Foundation has largely focused on distributing funds specifically donated by individuals and groups. It is my hope that this fundraising event will generate interest and allow the Foundation to take a more active role in supporting the work of our BOCES by providing expanded enrichment opportunities for our special education and career and technical education (CTE) students.
We are excited for this opportunity to celebrate the work of our students, staff, school districts and community partners – and to recognize 40 years of success at our BOCES. I hope to see you on March 21!
