Mr. Veeder with the book at the memorial.

A message of hope and unity from Questar III students is now part of a memorial in Las Vegas.

Students in Mr. Veeder’s HVAC class at Columbia-Greene Educational Center in Hudson compiled writings and artwork honoring the victims of the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on October 1st.

Veeder ran in the Rock’n’Roll marathon in Las Vegas on November 12 and brought the collection of work with him to the Las Vegas Strip to leave at a memorial in front of the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign. He says this project is an example of how his class teaches more than just how to work on HVAC equipment.

“It gives students a chance to give back and learn about things bigger than just HVAC. They took the initiative to create the book and it fits in with our goal of helping our kids be productive members of society, not just skilled workers.”
