The amended Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) took effect on July 1, 2013, under this amended legislation beginning January 1, 2014, all persons applying to the NYS Education Department for an administrative or supervisory service, classroom teaching service or school service certificate or coaching license must complete six (6) hours of coursework or training in harassment, bullying and discrimination prevention and intervention.
The training proactively addresses the social patterns of harassment, bullying, and discrimination and is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to create an affirming school environment for all students.
