Prepare to Apply

The New Visions: Visual & Performing Arts program provides budding artists the opportunity to spend their senior year of high school exploring the arts, collaborating with their peers, learning from accomplished artists, and preparing for the college experience.

Your New Visions application is an opportunity for you to show us who you are, what you’ve done, and what you care about.  We look for applicants who demonstrate academic excellence and a passion for the arts. To be best prepared to apply to the New Visions: Visual & Performing Arts program, a prospective student should have successfully fulfilled the majority of their graduation requirements prior to their senior year.  (During their time in New Visions, students will receive one English 12 credit, two Arts credits, ½ Economics credit, and ½ Participation in Government credit. Independent Physical Education is offered at the discretion of each home school district).

In addition, New Visions: VAPA students can receive up to 15 college credits at a significantly reduced rate.  (For the 2017-2018 academic year, Russell Sage College credits are $50.00/credit hour and Hudson Valley Community College Credits are $55.00/credit hour).

We encourage you to attend Experience the Arts Day during your junior year; Experience the Arts Day is held annually in late January or early February (2018 date will be announced soon) and will allow you to learn more about the program, share your talents, tour the Arts Center, and participate in exciting workshops!

Please contact Peg Danner-Frank, Program Instructor, if you have questions or would like to schedule a program visit. She can be reached at mdanner@questar.org or 518-271-7705.
