School from across Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene Counties attended the Celebration of Teaching and Learning at UAlbany.

On May 2, 2024, the Questar III BOCES hosted its annual Celebration of Teaching and Learning at UAlbany, an event to celebrate school administrators and educators, while engaging and inspiring students who have expressed interest in joining the education field. Organized by the Questar III School Improvement Team, thirteen area districts attended the event with two education ambassadors and five students each. The day featured various speakers, including representatives from Questar III BOCES and the UAlbany School of Education. There was also a roundtable Q&A session, a recognition of participants, a networking lunch, and a tour of UAlbany for prospective students.

In preparation for the event, Superintendents from Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene counties gave their advice and words of wisdom to students interested in joining the field:

Thank you to the schools who attended the event: Averill Park Central School District, Brunswick Central School District, Coxsackie-Athens Central School District, East Greenbush Central School District, Hoosick Falls Central School District, Ichabod Crane Central School District, New Lebanon Central School District, Questar III and HVCC STEM High School, Questar III BOCES New Visions: Pathways in Education, Questar III BOCES Special Education, Rensselaer City School District, Taconic Hills Central School District, and Wynantskill Union Free School District.

This event was created to celebrate educators and to increase student interest in education careers. The Questar III BOCES New Visions: Pathways in Education program was established as a result of the first event. The New Visions: Pathways in Education program prepares students for a career in education, covering educational topics and incorporating hands-on experience, including observations, shadowing, and internships with inspiring educational professionals. Students gain an understanding of educational theory and practice, develop skills to address diverse learning style, and explore and identify their education career goals.

Thank you to WAMC and WTEN for covering this great event!
