Section 10 of part A of Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2022 added a new subdivision 5 to Section 3625 of Education Law. This amendment authorized forgiveness of certain Transportation Aid penalties due to late filed or late executed contracts, and the failure to advertise for contracts for transportation after July 1, 2012.
SED has begun reaching out to districts that are potentially eligible for this forgiveness process. Affected districts were notified on January 10th of the potential penalties that may be eligible to be forgiven for their district and the steps necessary to request forgiveness of these penalties. This process will be done through the SED Monitoring and Vendor Performance System under Transportation within the Business Portal and under the access of the Superintendent.
Penalties forgiven will be added to the prior year claims list.
