Dear Families:

I want to provide you with an update regarding the Building Modernization Initiative at the Rensselaer Educational Center (REC) in Troy. The last portion of the project is delayed. As a result, we are unable to begin in-person instruction for some classes on September 8, as planned.

The following classes located in the B wing at REC will begin the 2021-22 school year with remote learning on September 8, 9, and 10:

  • Automotive Technologies
  • Automotive Services
  • Construction Technologies
  • Criminal Justice
  • Heavy Equipment Operation & Maintenance
  • HVAC & Renewable Energies
  • Nursing Assistant

In-person instruction for these classes will begin on Monday, September 13.

Please note that this does not impact any of the REC or Academy at REC classes located in the A wing of the building. These classes will report for in-person instruction on Wednesday, September 8.

Teachers in B wing programs will contact students directly to discuss expectations for the first three days of school and how to access remote learning.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate the third and final phase of our Building Modernization project. We look forward to seeing your child soon.

Anthony Defazio
Principal
Rensselaer Educational Center
