2020-21 School Reopening – Instructional Models Report and Report of School Closure and Report of School Re-Opening

On Wednesday September 9th SED issued a memo alerting districts about the required Instructional Models Report and the Report of School Closure and Report of School Re-Opening.

The 2020-21 School Reopening – Instructional Models Report, is a survey that can be accessed through the SED Monitoring and Vendor Reporting System. This survey is due by 5:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2020.

Per EL §215 and Commissioner’s Regulation 155.17(f), each district Superintendent shall notify the Commissioner immediately when the emergency plan or building-level school safety plan is activated resulting in the closure of a school building, and shall provide such information as the Commissioner may require, using the Report of School Closure. When it is determined that it is safe to re-open the school building(s), each district shall notify the Commissioner via the Report of School Re-Opening. These reports can also be accessed through the SED Monitoring and Vendor Reporting System. Please check with your Superintendent for access to view the required surveys.

Executive Order No. 202.60: Continuing Temporary Suspension and Modification of Laws Relating to the Disaster Emergency

On Friday, September 4th Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.60. This Executive Order allows for school districts to reopen for in-person instruction, requires that districts provide meals and childcare for students of essential workers, and extends the suspension of in-person meeting requirements under open meeting law until October 4, 2020.
