Districts and BOCES who are looking to begin a summer special education (Extended School Year) program or modify an existing approval must receive SED approval in order to run such programs and to potentially generate state reimbursement under Section 4408 of Education Law.
Applications for both new programs and modifications to existing approvals are due to SED no later than June 1, 2020.

Please note: even though the ESY applications available online are dated 2017, they are still applicable.
Where a district is increasing or decreasing the number of classes at the currently approved staff/student ratio, a modification application does not need to be completed.
