culinary arts students speak with an admissions rep from HVCC

Culinary Arts students meet with an admissions counselor from HVCC.

Students in Career and Technical Education programs at Rensselaer and Columbia/Greene Educational Center had the opportunity this week to visit with admissions representatives from several local and regional colleges.

Between the two centers, students had access to more than 20 colleges and the U.S. military. To ensure students had a productive experience, teachers distributed forms for students to fill out with information from several schools, including enrollment, tuition, programs offered and class size. This exercise served not only to allow students to learn about potential colleges, but also to offer a way to start a conversation about the opportunities available at the many colleges in our region.

Many of the college representatives in attendance said they had positive interactions with students who were very engaged and excited to learn about the possibilities awaiting them in college.

Inevitably, some students already have a plan for college – but the college fair allowed them to form a backup plan or simply learn about opportunities they might not otherwise have known about.

Thank you to all the participating colleges!
