Necessary Requirements:

  • Fingerprint Clearance through New York State Department of Education. If already cleared through SED, applicant will not need to be fingerprinted again.
  • Teachers (CTE only) need proof of associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, license or certification.
  • Teacher Assistants need proof of high school diploma or GED.  Preferred applicants will have NYS Teaching Assistant and/or Teacher Certification.
  • Nurses need a current New York State RN or LPN license.

To become a substitute Teaching Assistant, Teacher and/or Nurse, applicants must fill out the substitute hiring packet below. Inclluded in the packet are directions on how to schedule fingerprint clearance, a Questar employment application, and payroll/HR hiring forms. Please be sure to complete all forms and bring them with you to your intake meeting.

Questar prefers an online application through www.olasjobs.org/capital.  If you already have an application on file through OLAS (www.olasjobs.org), you do not need to fill out a Questar application.

Please Note:  For nurses only, a Civil Service application is also required to meet county requirements. You do not have to take a Civil Service Exam — simply complete and return the county application with the above BOCES forms.

HOW TO SCHEDULE AN INTAKE MEETING
Appointments are necessary for an intake meeting, paperwork review, and system orientation.  Questar prefers email communication to schedule a time to meet; you can contact the HR office between 8am and 4:30pm at employment@questar.org to schedule an intake meeting (appointments generally take place on Friday’s).  Casual business attire is appropriate.
