Marcie Fraser

Questar III BOCES is thrilled to welcome Marcie Fraser as its new New Visions: Emergency Preparedness, Informatics, Cyber and Homeland Security (EPICH) instructor beginning in the 2021-22 school year. Fraser brings a diverse background in the field and a love of learning to this brand new program.

Fraser attended the University at Albany where she earned her master’s degree in public health with a concentration on community health and the social environment. She went on to earn her doctorate in public health with a concentration in health policy and management.

Fraser began her career as a news reporter covering medical and fitness news. She then worked at the New York State Department of Health as a health educator in emergency preparedness. She also held a position as a supervisor for the New York State Contact Tracing Initiative/Department of Health. Fraser says her most rewarding job to date has been working as an adjunct faculty at the University at Albany’s College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity where she has taught courses including Research Methods and  Critical Inquiry and Communication.

Fraser is highly anticipating teaching our New Visions: EPICH students this fall.

“I can’t wait to teach the students,” Fraser said. “Education changes lives, and I love being a part of that! I am eager to introduce the (high school) students to SUNY’s program, have them tour the labs and get experiences at the college level.”

In her spare time, Fraser enjoys ballroom and Latin dancing, kayaking, working out and being on the water on her pontoon boat. She has worked with the Alzheimer’s Association, Wounded Warriors, the War Horse Organization for Veterans and To Life, an organization that provides free breast cancer support services and education to the greater Capital Region.
