Mentor Program

The Mentor Program is a collaborative endeavor between the Teachers’ Union and Questar III. Studies show that mentoring improves student success and helps to retain new teachers.

Questar III’s Mentor Program matches a highly skilled veteran teacher with one new to the organization. The purpose of the program is to provide new teachers with a collegial environment for professional growth during their first three years of employment. Non-evaluation in nature, the program seeks to ease the transition from teacher preparation to practice by offering the wisdom and best practices of veteran Questar III employees. Mentors and mentees are paired based on teaching area or related service.

Be a Mentor

The Mentoring Committee encourages teachers and related staff to become mentors for new staff. The three-year tiered system establishes the expectation that the first year mentor/mentee relationship will be more intensive in terms of time with up to 10 days of release time per mentor/mentee team. The time expectation decreases to 50 percent in year two, and 25 percent in year three.

Release time of up to five days per mentor and mentee (or 10 days per team) is available as part of the program and can be used for a variety of staff development activities. Click here to apply. There is a stipend for mentors.
