Civil Service

Every non-certified employee comes under the jurisdiction of the Columbia County Civil Service Commission. As such, they must complete a MSD-330. This form is used by Civil Service for both an application for examination and an application for employment.

If the employee is hired from a “Certification Of Eligibles” provided by the Civil Service Commission, they will not be required to fill out this form again as they would have fulfilled this requirement upon requesting to take the examination which placed their name on the list of eligibles. All other non-certified employees must complete this form.

If employee is hired under a provisional status, they will be required to fill out this form twice. Once as an application for Employment to be reviewed by the Civil Service Commission, and again when the examination is given by civil service.

Employees hired in positions that do not require an examination are required to fill this application out once for the purpose of employment.

Civil Service will review all application to determine if the applicant fulfills minimum requirements for the position.

All questions must be completed, which includes pages 1 and 2. Forms not completely filled out will be returned if Civil Service does not feel they have adequate information.

MSD 222 This form is used by Supervisors to delineate a position by percentage of time spent on each function. These functions must add to 100%. This form is used for new positions and to update existing positions to include new functions. All questions 1-7 need to be completed and sent to Faith Colvin at the Central Office. The Civil Service Commission will use this form to entitle the position.
