Two Questar III BOCES Heavy Equipment students have earned the top two spots in the SUNY Cobleskill High School Day Tractor Driving competition! Earlier this year, Questar III BOCES Heavy Equipment students from Marilyn A. Noonan School at Durham and Robert H. Gibson Technical School attended the annual event, which brings 1,000 students to its campus. Students have the opportunity to showcase their current skill set through competitions and learn new skills for their future. There are workshops, demos, and a chance to learn more about the programs offered at SUNY Cobleskill.
Heavy Equipment students from both schools competed in several Applied Career and Digital Technologies competitions. Students were required to pass a written test on safety and general knowledge before competing in a technical contest. The Tractor Driving Contest required students to pass a preliminary written test on safe operation and use of controls of modern agricultural tractors, and then participate in the two wheeled trailer event. Congratulations to Jackson Piser (Marilyn A. Noonan/Taconic Hills CSD) for his first place finish, and Tim Costa (Robert H. Gibson Technical School/Averill Park CSD) for coming in second.
In total, 14 Questar III BOCES students placed in the top 10 over five categories. Congratulations to our Heavy Equipment students on a job well done!
