Questar III BOCES New Visions: Visual and Performing Arts students had a busy winter preparing for two major showcases this spring, a 100% student-led production and a collaboration with Russell Sage College on a literary and creative arts magazine. In April, students had the opportunity to showcase and celebrate both projects.

First, students held their class play, “Cinema Slasher,” on April 24th. This production involved every student in the class – from story development, writing, directing, and acting, to set design, lighting, costumes, stage management, and more. This project allowed students to play to their strengths and lean on each other to bridge any gaps. “Cinema Slasher” was written by Betsey Colligan (Brunswick CSD) and Jackson Bowles (Germantown CSD) and directed by Betsey Colligan. On April 30th, students celebrated the launch of “The Rev,” a literary and creative arts magazine and collaborative effort with Russell Sage College students and Sage professor Angie Smith’s creative arts charity in London, CreativityUnleashed. Several students were literary or artistic contributors or were production or editorial team members. Working on this magazine allowed students to further their collaboration skills and learn more about print media. Students had eleven pieces featured in the magazine, including the cover artwork by Jayli Capaso (Berlin CSD). View the magazine by clicking here.
Congratulations to our students for an incredible season of creativity and collaboration. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
