Smart Scholars – Early College High School

SS-ECHS is a four-year curriculum beginning the summer before the student’s freshman year of high school.

Students interested in compressing the time it takes to complete a high school diploma and the first two years of college (or more) should consider applying to the Smart Scholars Early College High School (ECHS) program through Questar III BOCES. This program allows institutions of higher education to partner with public school districts to create an opportunity for students to earn at least 24 but up to 60 college credits while also completing their high school diploma.

Located on the Hudson Valley Community College campus, the program will assist students on the path to a college degree, while saving their families thousands of dollars in tuition costs.

Eighth graders in participating districts are eligible to apply. Students must apply through the district in which they reside. View the program flyer

Who is a good candidate for ECHS? Students who:

-Are motivated to explore new and exciting ways to learn

-Are interested in the rapidly developing field of web development

-Work well in a highly collaborative environment

-Are able to succeed in a non-traditional classroom setting

ECHS is designed to give students historically underrepresented at the postsecondary level the opportunity to get a jumpstart on their college education and their future careers.
