Jennifer Haggerty

Jennifer Haggerty is a member of the Rensselaer City School Board, serving as vice president. She has always been passionate about children and education, believing that children are our most precious asset and that the world can be very challenging for them to navigate. Jennifer feels strongly that schools have the greatest responsibility and opportunity, second to families, to influence them.

Jennifer received her Master of Social Work from Fordham University in 1996 and has worked for the Rensselaer County Department of Mental Health for 23 years.  She is proud to say that 17 of those years she has worked in Rensselaer County schools providing social work services to students, their families, and school staff. Currently is the Supervisor of Substance Abuse Prevention and Recovery services for the county.  She is Co-founder of the Rensselaer Area Drug Awareness Reality Coalition (RADAR), a group of community partners who work together to prevent substance abuse, raise awareness and provide education.

It is Jennifer’s highest priority to give children a solid educational base, foster growth and contribute to their success. She hopes to represent families who want the best possible education and positive school experience for their children regardless of ability.
