February is National CTE Month®! Did you know that nearly 50% of New York State jobs require training beyond high school, but less than a four-year degree? Yet only 37% of workers are trained at this level. There’s a real need in our region, and we’re helping to fill this gap!

Questar III BOCES takes great pride in our Career Tech Education programs as we prepare the next generation of employees with the technical skills they need. Our CTE students consist of 11th & 12th grade students who spend half days at one of our CTE schools:

Students receive advanced, hands-on training in a variety of career fields through one of our 14 programs. These programs progress through curricula quickly and prepare students for in-demand 21st century careers as well as whatever comes next in their life journey – be it attending college, joining the workforce, enlisting in the military or any other life path.

Other areas of CTE include our Career Studies programs for high school students ages 16-21, with entry-level training in a technical area or trade at an alternative learning pace and our New Visions program, a 1-year honors level program that turns area businesses, health care facilities and government buildings into classrooms.

This month, we will feature our CTE students, teachers, programs, alumni & business partners as we celebrate National CTE Month. Follow us on social media to hear these stories & help spread the word about the importance of CTE!
