Questar III BOCES welcomes Patricia Poupore as school counselor for our Special Education department.

Patricia grew up in Scotia, NY. She earned a BS degree in Human Services from Elmira College. After college, she spent a year working at the Alternative Living Group, where she helped manage a residence for adults with developmental disabilities. She then moved to Boston, where she lived for six years. She attended graduate school at Lesley University, and earned an MA in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in School Counseling. She was a school counselor at a large high school in Massachusetts for two years prior to moving back to New York State. She spent two years working as a school counselor at Bishop Maginn High School, and nine years as a school counselor at Tamarac High School.

“I became a school counselor because I like helping people. I enjoy working with students throughout their educational career and helping them be successful in the moment while also planning for their future,” she said.  “I was interested in joining the Special Education department at Questar III because of the variety of programs, opportunities and supports that are provided to students. When a student is in an environment that is right for them, they are able to learn and be successful. I feel so fortunate to be part of a team that helps to support students through their education and beyond,” she noted.

In her free time, Patricia enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with her friends and family.
