We here at State Aid Planning have had the opportunity over the last six months or so to communicate with many new people from school districts across the State. In a normal year, we would be out on the road visiting many of you doing all kinds of State Aid reviews in your first year or two as a Business Official. We miss being on the road and meeting all of you on a one-to-one basis!
Since that is not possible in the current health environment, we have decided to add a new monthly webinar to our program to still provide that more hands-on assistance that many professionals appreciate. The new webinar series will be called the Knowledge Café and will be an offshoot of our monthly Coffee Talks, which were started to provide timely information in a casual setting. Each month we will review the SBO Calendar for the following month and select some of the deadlines listed and provide a more detailed discussion on how to accomplish those tasks. Part of the webinar will also highlight a different resource each month that is available to you to hopefully make your challenging position more manageable. All webinars will be recorded in case you are unable to attend the live session.
The first Knowledge Café webinar will be Friday, October 30th at 9:00 a.m. In this first session we will cover:
– The November SBO Calendar
– Resources Available on our Website
– The detailed topic will be ‘What an SBO Needs to Know About State and Federal Grants”

While this series of webinars is geared towards those individuals at the beginning of their careers in school business, experienced business officials are also invited – we would love to hear your perspective and any guidance you would like to share!
