Property Tax Cap Update

The CPI for use with the 2020-21 Property Tax Cap is 1.81% (1.0181). It has been pre-populated in the Tax Cap portal, available from the State Comptroller’s website.

In addition, most of Nassau County school districts now have Tax Base Growth factors posted on the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance website. Find them here.

The BOCES Capital exclusion is here.  SED has revised its Property Tax Cap guidance to include information and instructions regarding the BOCES capital exclusion. The guidance can be found here. We are working to understand the process and have requested some additional information from the state. Districts and BOCES should begin to work to develop the numbers that may be reported, both for 2019-20 (Capital Exclusion – Prior Year) and 2020-21 (Capital Exclusion – Coming Year).

NRT Output Reports Available

The 2019-20 NRT Actual and EST Output Reports are now available. They can be found where district output reports are accessed.

SED Surveys

Superintendents and School Business Officials are encouraged to be checking for surveys on the SED Portal that may be due. We have been contacted by a number of districts who have come across surveys that they were not otherwise aware of that have due dates as early as today, January 15th.
