Students in Mr. Maloney’s Math class discuss how attendance impacts a students’ grades.

Sackett Educational Center held their first academic award ceremony of the year November 22 to recognize students for academic achievement. Principal Karen Brockley presented students with certificates for attaining honor roll (average of 85 or better) and high honor roll (average of 90 or better) for the first quarter of the 2019-2020 school year.

Attendance was also highlighted at the ceremony, with students from Mr. Maloney’s math class discussing their research into how attendance at school impacts a students’ grades. They found an 85% correlation coefficient, and reported that if a student had perfect attendance, they could expect an 89.5% average for the quarter.
