The 30th Annual Juried High School Art Exhibit opens Wednesday (4/17) at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. Artwork from students in 13 districts will be on display at the Marvin Library Learning Commons until May 17.

This year, Arlene Sampson will serve as guest juror for the exhibit. Sampson is the former director of the Arts in Education service at Questar III.

An opening reception will be held May 2 from 5-7 p.m. at the college. Student artists will be on hand and Sampson will present the winners with a certificate and a prize. The exhibit and the reception are both open to the public.

The Questar III High School Invitational Art Exhibit began in 1989 to encourage the development and exchange of arts programming for schools in the region. Over the years, the exhibit was held at the Questar III offices in Castleton, the Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy, and WMHT Studios in North Greenbush. The program was also designed to encourage student participation in our schools’ arts programming, to provide students with authentic feedback on their artistic endeavors and to promote strong, public support of the arts in our schools.
