Next week, Rensselaer Educational Center and New Visions staff will host two events for prospective students for the 2019-2020 school year.

On January 14, prospective 11th grade New Visions students and their parents/guardians are invited to The George Education Center at the University at Albany Health Sciences Campus in Rensselaer for an information session with important information for those considering a New Visions program for their senior year.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with a presentation from SEFCU on paying for college and making smart financial decisions, followed by a general New Visions program presentations and breakout sessions for each program. If you or your student is interest in attending but unable to join us on the 14th, please contact Kim Sparkman at (518) 479-6939 or kim.sparkman@questar.org. In case of inclement weather, the open house will be rescheduled for January 15, and it will be reported as a school closing on local news channels, www.questar.org and on social media. On January 16, Rensselaer Educational Center will open its doors to welcome prospective students and their families to learn about the programs offered at the school and showcase the variety of learning opportunities available. Last year, the event drew about 250 visitors.

Current students will be on hand to assist with the event as well. Criminal Justice students help with traffic and parking, as well as serving as ambassadors when guests arrive. Culinary Arts and Introduction to Food Services students prepare and serve delicious refreshments to show off their work in the kitchen.

The program runs 4:30 – 6:40 p.m. at Rensselaer Educational Center, 35 Colleen Road, Troy. In case of inclement weather, the open house will be rescheduled for January 17. If weather prompts a change, it will be reported as a school closing on local news channels and on www.questar.org and on social media. Download/view the event flyer here.
