Collection of canned goods in boxes

REC students and staff collected more then 250 food items to donate to the Roarke Center in Troy.

For the third year in a row, the Rensselaer Educational Center played “The Hungry Games” and coordinated a “competitive” food drive for a local food pantry. REC School Psychologist Allison Janis coordinated the effort to encourage staff and students to bring in canned food items to donate to the Roarke Center in Troy.

The games were set up like a class competition to encourage good will and a little fun at this time of year. The CNA class collected the most items. In total, REC collected 261 items for the Roarke Center. Mrs. Janis will deliver the food to be distributed to those in need during the holiday season. This was a wonderful collaborative effort and lesson in caring and compassion.

Thank you to all staff and students who donated food and to Mrs. Janis for coordinating this again this year!
