The New York State Education Department approved Questar III BOCES as a sponsor of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) pursuant to Section 80-6 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.
This new requirement – adopted by the Board of Regents in March 2016 – requires holders of professional certificates in the classroom teaching service, educational leadership service and Level III teaching assistant certificate holders who are practicing in a New York public school or BOCES to complete 100 hours of acceptable CTLE during each five-year registration period.
The CTLE requirement may be completed at any time during the registration period. It does not apply to permanent classroom and school leader certificate holders.
School districts and BOCES may now list Questar III as a CTLE provider on their professional development plans.
