Questar III’s Adult Education program collaborated with the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region on their 12-week Jamison-Rounds Ready for Work Program. The goal of the program is to provide women with the skills they need in order to obtain and maintain permanent employment at a livable wage.

This program addresses barriers that women face when seeking employment, including a lack of a high school diploma, limited or no prior work history, lack of professional skills and basic literacy and academic challenges.

Literacy Specialist Chris Foster said Questar III provided preparation and testing for General Educational Development (GED).

“Questar III partners with organizations such as the YWCA and others to support adults throughout Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties,” said Foster.

In March 2012, Questar III started teaching GED classes at the downtown branch of the Troy Public Library, and today classes are taught at libraries in Cairo-Durahm, Catskill, East Greenbush, Hudson and Lansingburgh.
