Did you know?
As a result of input from our school districts, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) intake process was implemented that was designed to help reduce the number of students coming into CTE programs not ready for the rigor of each program, and to help make sure that students developed a better understanding of program content and expectations.
Data collected has shown that the intake process is resulting in fewer students switching programs, a better match of students entering CTE programs, and more students completing programs.

The web portal will be open for the student intake process in mid-January and school counselors are notified no later than May 2 on the status of a student’s intake into a particular program. The system allows for “rolling feedback” on each student. Many districts know the status of the intake process for a student well in advance of May 2.
The Intake Process is designed to effectively “screen students into” CTE programs. School counselors enter information about each student, including the students’ reason for interest in the program and data outlining past academic achievement through a secure “web portal” Additional required medical information for programs such as our health occupations programs and our aviation program are also entered
School counselors and parents are asked to acknowledge that they are familiar with the students program of choice and that the student has been counseled on the expectations of the program.
Students are asked to write an essay about how they believe they will benefit from participating in a CTE specific program. In some programs (and the goal is to move this to all programs), there is a parent and student Orientation Program to engage the parent and the student in making sure there is an in-depth understanding of the CTE program the student will enter.

Schools must submit required documentation to Questar III for each new student enrolled in the program prior to the program start.
