Questar III New Visions Programs accepts high school juniors from Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene Counties to attend during their senior year. Certain Questar III programs are open to students who attend high schools in the Capital Region and Otsego-Northern-Catskill BOCES. Contact your guidance counselor to see if you qualify.
The admissions process for New Visions is very thorough and can be highly competitive.

Attend the New Visions Presentation
at your high school and obtain an application form.

Talk to your parents and your guidance
counselor.
Step

Attend an open house with your parents.
Once you pick up an application, you will receive a letter inviting
you to attend an open house at one of the Questar III Educational
Centers in either Hudson or Troy. This letter will also inform
you of when your application is due.

Complete your application form and
essay. Be sure to follow the directions on the application carefully,
obtain the required references, include a copy of your high
school transcript and a writing sample. You will have about
three weeks to complete the application once you receive it.

Submit your application to your guidance
office on time. Late applications may be rejected if the number
of applicants exceeds the number of available slots.

Prepare for and attend your interview.
Interviews are typically held during the school day and last
about 30 minutes. You will be required to complete an impromptu
writing assignment as part of your interview.
Admissions decisions will be finalized in April. Please remember
that Questar III staff makes admissions recommendations to your
school counselor. Your acceptance and eventual enrollment in the
New Visions program is contingent upon the availability of local
funding and final approval from your school district.
