Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)

STEM students are at the forefront of technology in all fields. They explore careers that: combat world hunger; rescue the environment; save thousands of children from fatal disease; and, help millions of people live more comfortable and productive lives. Students study how to implement state-of-the-art science as they explore the world of technology and engineering.

FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ONLY

Located at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, students participate in laboratory experiments and interact with scientific professionals.

Students interact with over 80 professionals each year, including researchers from Rensselaer as well as technology companies such as GE, SuperPower, and Benet Labs.

An ideal choice for students who want to know what it really means to be an engineer or scientist, the STEM program integrates rigorous academics with practical experiences.

Students interact in the fields of:

  • Biomedical Science & Engineering
  • Chemical Science & Engineering
  • Civil & Environmental Science & Engineering
  • Electrical & Computer Engineering
  • Mechanical & Nuclear Engineering
  • Nanotechnology
  • Physics
  • Smart Lighting

Learning opportunities for students are not limited to the technology labs. The diverse Rensselaer community exposes students to different perspectives on government, economics, and culture.
